External ID validation checks for the CRB’s "Route 2"

DDC Offers a quick and easy to use service for CRB Registered Bodies to obtain external ID Verification Checks in line with the CRB's new document checking guidelines, which have to be followed exclusively from 1st September 2012.

For smaller RB's, these are offered in a range of competitively priced packages with no "Registration Fee" and a minimum commitment of only 5 checks.

RB's who submit 1500+ CRB applications per year can open a monthly invoiced account (subject to credit checks).

"Route 2"

The CRB's new guidelines require that UK and EEA citizens who cannot produce a Group 1 document are checked by the RB using "Route 2".

This requires that in addition to checking at least one Group 2a document and at least 3 qualifying documents in total, the RB undertakes an external ID verification check with and approved organisation. DDC use Experian Limited.

The check must comply with the "LEVEL 2 (Remote)" specification as detailed in HMG's "Minimum Requirements for the Verification of the Identity of Indiviuals" document Version 2.0 January 2003.

The check will return a PASS/FAIL result with a number and date to identify the check.

Process for ID Verification Checks through DDC

Drawing on over 10 years of experience as a CRB Umbrella Body and being an eBulk user since 2009, DDC has developed an easy to use process for clients to submit applicants online, track the progress of applications through the system and view the results online. We have used the same interface to capture the applicant details for ID Verification Checks.

On registering, the client is given a user name & password access to their personal online Client Area. Here they can request new ID checks by simply inputting the applicant's name, address and date of birth; plus any data items specific for their own needs, such as location, cost-centre, requester etc. The Client Area offers a range of facilities for searching by applicant details or sorting by client's own specific data.

The results of the ID Verification Check are displayed as pass or fail, with a unique number and issue date (much like a Disclosure). With DDC's server being secure system, the record of the check remains visible for at least 3 years, although clients can print hard copies when needed.

DDC aims to have the ID check result returned within 1 hour of the request*.

*This applies 9-5 Monday to Friday and excludes Bank Holidays

Costs

With the requirement to undertake 3rd party ID Verification Checks being new, many RB’s are unsure how many CRB applications may need one. The CRB are forcasting 8% of applications, but this will vary considerably depending on the industry sector. Consequently DDC’s pricing model does not require any registration fee or minimum commitment.

Clients can buy pre-paid bundles of ID checks and submit applicant details against these. You will be notified when these have been nearly used up and another pack can be purchased. To accommodate smaller RB’s the entry package is only 5 checks.

For larger RB's who submit 1500+* CRB checks per annum DDC can offer an invoice account, subject to volume verification with the CRB and credit checks.

*Based on the CRB's 8% estimate this means they will undertake approximately 120 ID Verification Checks per annum
