DBS Plan of Action Revealed

In  this months News Letter the DBS have announced their Strategic Plan for the next 3 years, setting out plans for supporting government, modernising the core products and offering new products.

The Update Service

The Update Service is now 1 year old and to date approximately 187,000 applicants have subscribed, with over 216,000 status checks carried out. To promote the use of the Update Service the DBS have released some additional documentation to aid employers and applicants, and keep them informed of any changes. The DBS have also been listening to feedback and recently extended the time frame for applicants to join from 14 days to 19 calender days, from the issue date of the Certificate.

Changes to ID Checking Guidelines

The DBS have issued a reminder in this month’s Newsletter that guidelines for checking an applicant identity have now been altered. This was mentioned in the May/June DBS News and details were provided on the 1st July, taking effect the same day. Obviously this was a very limited notice period and DDC have been working hard to ensure our online system has been updated and paper guidance included in packs is accurate. These changes went ‘live’ on our system on the 8th July 2014. Any applicants wishing to confirm the up-to-date guidance please go to our Applicant Guidance webpages.
