The HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) is a pre-employment checking standard set by the Government for anyone who has access to government assets. The core checks include:

It is important however that you re-check an individual’s immigration status where they have time-limited right to work in the UK. In addition, a basic DBS check is only a ‘snap-shot’ of the individual’s unspent criminal record. Additionally, you may wish to set a re-check policy to ensure you hold an up-to-date record, and nothing has changed
