Who Are DDC?

Some facts, basic information and history of Due Diligence Checking Ltd.

Due Diligence Checking Ltd is a dedicated Umbrella Body registered with the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly Criminal Records Bureau – CRB), Disclosure Scotland and Access Northern Ireland. We have been operating as a DBS Umbrella Body since 2002 and currently have over 12,000 registered clients. We submit over 85,000 Disclosure and PVG membership applications per year.

We aim to provide a high-quality and secure service for organisations wishing to simplify their criminal record checking processes. DDC’s business and Disclosure application processes have been certified as compliant with both the ISO 9001 quality management standard and the ISO 27001 information security management standard.

DDC as a Dedicated Umbrella Body

Organisations who submit their own disclosure applications directly to the DBS/SCRO are classed as ‘Registered Bodies’ and are identified by their ‘RB number’. Certain Registered Bodies are able to process applications on behalf of other non-registered organisations and are classed as ‘Umbrella Bodies’.

DDC is both a Registered Body and an Umbrella Body, which means we can process applications on behalf of other organisations for all levels of criminal record check. Organisations who submit less than 100 DBS applications per year cannot become a Registered Body and therefore have to use an Umbrella Body like DDC to process their applications.

Almost all DDC’s applications for DBS checks are sent electronically via eBulk to the DBS. Not only does this speed up the process but also helps check for errors before applications get to the DBS. Clients and applicants have access to a unique online area from where all checks can be initiated, tracked and resulting Disclosure numbers obtained. This covers DBS checks, both online and paper, Basic level checks, PVG applications and Access NI checks.

DDC have been operating as an Umbrella body for over 10 years and always aim to offer the highest level of service to all our customers. As the demands of our clients have changed, so have our processes and system. There is a dedicated team of countersignatories and agents on hand to deal with enquiries, questions and help process all applications as quickly and effortlessly as possible. The ethos of DDC has always been to do as much work for the client as possible.

DDC as an Out-Sourcing Company

At DDC, we aim to provide a comprehensive and high-quality service. We understand that even relatively simple processes need careful attention to detail and contingency plans. That is why we want to minimise the administrative burden and ensure your employees obtain their disclosures as fast as possible, with as little effort as possible.

Whether you are a small business that has only just started requiring Disclosures, or you are a member of an experienced DBS team looking to outsource certain parts of your process, we can provide all the support you need. With DDC, you can rely on a hassle-free service that allows you to focus on your own business.

DDC as a Software Developer

At DDC we develop all our software in-house so have full control of the direction and priority of development tasks. This has allowed us to incorporate many facilities at the request of our clients.

Our policy is to make all features available to all clients, so there is only one instance of the software code, which ensures maximum stability and ease of maintenance. Most features can be enabled/disabled at the account level, so users are only presented with the options that are relevant to them, e.g. clients with no operations in Scotland will not see the option to initiate a PVG membership application, or clients who only use the paper form process will not see an option to initiate an online application process. This makes for an extremely flexible system that is still simple to use.
